FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

About our PAT testing service.

What is PAT testing and is it a legal requirement?
PAT testing (Portable Appliance Testing) checks that electrical equipment is safe to use. There is no single law that makes it mandatory, but the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require employers to maintain electrical equipment in a safe condition, and regular PAT testing is the recognised way to demonstrate this.
How often do appliances need to be tested?
Testing frequency depends on the type of equipment and its environment, ranging from 3 months for construction equipment to up to 4 years for low risk office equipment. We assess your site and set the correct schedule for each asset.
What happens if an appliance fails?
Failed appliances are clearly labelled and reported immediately. We provide a full breakdown of the fault so you can arrange a repair or replacement before the item is returned to use.
Are your engineers qualified?
All our engineers hold recognised City and Guilds PAT testing qualifications and carry full public liability insurance.
